Pine Cone Bird Feeder Craft for Toddlers
What’s inside this article: Steps for completing a simple DIY bird feeder using a pine cone, peanut butter, and birdseed. Your toddler will love creating this craft, and watching the birds enjoy their creation afterwards.

Not only will your child have fun participating in this activity, but they’ll also enjoy watching the birds use their feeder after the pine cone bird feeder craft is complete.
I recommend finding the pine cones together outside. Being outside gives your child the freedom to play, explore, and learn all at the same time. There is so much in nature for your toddle to see, touch, and create with.
Supplies:
To complete this activity, you will need the following supplies:
- 1 large pinecone
- 1/2 cup of peanut butter
- 1 cup bird seed
- A shallow dish
- twine
- Spatula or butter knife

Pine Cone Bird Feeder Instructions
- Attach the twine to your pine cone. Ensure there is a large enough loop to hang your finished bird feeder from a branch.
2. Using the spatula or butter knife, help your toddler spread the peanut butter onto the pine cone. Encourage them to take their time and carefully fill all the spaces with a generous amount of peanut butter.

3. Pour the birdseed into the shallow dish. Show your child how to roll the pine cone in the seeds to coat it thoroughly. Gently pat birdseed onto any areas where the peanut butter is not covered in seeds using your hands.
4. Hang your bird feeder outside somewhere where your child will be able to watch the visiting birds snack on their creation.
